Larry McRae is much more than the businesses he has owned. He is a mentor to many, a thinker, builder, businessman, husband, father, and Jeeper.
Known throughout the industry as the leader of Poison Spyder, he wasn’t the founder but was the guy who built the business to be a powerhouse in the Jeep market. Poison Spyder faltered under its prior ownership during the economic collapse of 2008; Larry bought the name and the models and built from there. A few years ago, Poison Spyder was sold to Transamerica.
Still an Ambassador for BFG, Larry has proven chops in desert racing, having seat time in the Wide Open Class in Baja several times. But Baja wasn’t the competitive start for Larry; the start came long before that as the spotter for Jon Bundrant and Tiny in the early rockcrawling days. Adding to those acclaims are championships at KOH, as well. The guy is well-rounded in the competitive arena.
Larry tried his hand at retirement for three years with a move to Utah out of the Southern California arena and has now taken on a new challenge as the owner of Zion Jeep Tours and Outback Safaris in Springdale, Utah. Larry is the ultimate entrepreneur, taking a good idea and making it better.
