When someone tells you they wheeled the Rubicon, you immediately think of the West Coast, but did you know there is an East Coast Rubicon? Buckle up, buttercup, because we are here to talk about the best-kept wheeling secret east of the Mississippi, The Good Evening Ranch.Trail Report The Good Evening Ranch 1

Located outside of Summersville, in beautiful Canvas, WV, lies The Good Evening Ranch, a 400-acre off-roaders paradise. The landscape is strewn with massive rock formations, boulder fields, and long creek beds with names like Chadalack, Jigsaw, Jackhammer, Cripple Creek, and yes, even Rubicon. There is truly something for every skill level, from the mildly built daily driver to full-blown rock bouncers. Wheeling at the Ranch never disappoints. Check out their events calendar, as they host several large events each year. Can’t make it to a planned event? No problem! Good Evening Ranch is open seven days a week year-round!

Looking for a place to stay? The Ranch offers primitive campsites, trailer hookups, fully furnished cabins, and even a lodge to make your stay enjoyable. The park also hosts equestrian events, horse boarding, indoor rides under their massive arena, and a banquet hall. I have often found myself at the Ranch watching barrel races between trips to the trails.

The Ranch makes a great central hub if you are planning an overlanding adventure through the mountain state! Several state parks, natural attractions, historic towns, and the recently established New River Gorge National Park and Reserve are nearby.
