Racers, when it’s time to leave for a race, does your family excitedly jump in the truck? Or are they dragging their feet because “there’s nothing to do!”? Enthusiasts, are you tired of choosing between a “vacation” and wheeling, or maybe wheeling and watching a race? It’s time to stop choosing; Mid America Outdoors (MAO) has changed all that. Join them in Jay, Oklahoma, for options for everyone in the family. Established in 2018, owners Jason and Gayla Robinette set out to create a world-class facility that provided centralized access to several competition venues and miles of trails and would provide something for everyone in the family. MAO isn’t your typical off-road park; it’s a vacation destination.
Currently open for special events (see site for events and dates), the park has 40 rental cabins, over 200 oversized RV sites with 30/50 amp electrical and water hookups, as well as acres of dry camping available.
Located at the park entrance is the Mid America Powersports store. Inside, you will find plenty of park merchandise, SXS rentals, parts and accessories for your SXS or ATV, a general store, the Legends Steakhouse restaurant, and the Forever Friends coffee bar (upstairs). Also attached to the Powersports building are CocoNuts (an outdoor bar) and the park shower facilities. Other facilities available in the main park area are the dedicated vendor space, outdoor food court, lounge, swimming pool with lazy river, rodeo arena, two separate multi-car wash bays, RV dump sites, and a huge outdoor concert venue.
For competitors, the park has a world-class short course, Rock Bouncer hill climb, Pit Bike “motocross” course, dirt dragstrip, Ultra4 course(s), a large-scale RC course, and a Down Hill Barbie Jeep course. For spectators, on top of plenty of action to watch during the events, there are also 1600 acres of wooded trails to explore. While there isn’t much in the way of technical rock crawling, the trails (open to all 4WD and OHVs) provide plenty of tight, technical valleys and loose hill climbs. If technical rock crawling is your thing, Disney, Oklahoma, is just up the road.
Next time you are debating the family vacation and want to consider a venue that provides something for every member of the family, I highly recommend attending an event held at MAO. For more information, visit www.midamericaoutdoors.com
