The brainchild of the Grand Mesa Jeep Club, Rock Junction and the Rocky Mountain Off Road Expo set out ten years ago to highlight the abundant access to all levels of 4-wheel drive trails within an hour-and-a-half drive of the city of Grand Junction Colorado. This year’s event was held May 29 through June 2.

Thursday and Friday participants headed out on multiple trail runs throughout the area before returning to camp and enjoying a BBQ meal provided by GJMC. Trails run from scenic dirt roads to some of western Colorado’s and eastern Utah’s most extreme rock crawling trails.

Saturday was set aside for the Rocky Mountain Off Road Expo. The expo is a chance for event participants and the local public to relax and enjoy access to vendors from the off-road industry, as well as a swap meet, show and shine, an RTI ramp, and an opportunity to play on the manmade obstacle and rock courses built by the club. A unique feature this year was a dirt jump nicknamed the Baja Jump. Several local desert race trucks, UTV’s and even a couple of Ultra 4 cars spent the afternoon entertaining the crowd, seeing who could send it the furthest. Wrapping up the expo the GJMC held a raffle for various items donated by supporting vendors and sponsors. All proceeds from the raffle are earmarked to help land use and continued access in the local area.

Sunday wrapped up the event with another day of trails.

If you are looking to attend a family friendly event, Rock Junction and the Rocky Mountain Off Road Expo is one you don’t want to miss.
